Next listing: Mon, Nov 9, 2026, usually here shortly after midnight as Monday begins, New York time.

Every paper first posted in arXiv's listing for Fri, Nov 6, 2026 in the 44 categories covered here: 1,401 papers, each shown once (a paper listed in several categories is shown under its own). New versions of older papers are not included. arXiv announces a new listing Sunday to Thursday evenings (US Eastern time), dated the next day, and none on Friday or Saturday evenings, so over a weekend the newest listing is Friday's. The feeds this page reads update at midnight Eastern time, so each listing arrives here shortly after midnight.

  1. Perfect Partitions of Regular Bipartite Graphs

Melanie J. Ferreri, Archana L. Parameswaran, Gexin Yu Combinatorics

Let $I_{n,n}$ be a fixed perfect matching of the complete bipartite graph $K_{n,n}$, and let $L_{n,1}=K_{n,n}-I_{n,n}$. A perfect set of $L_{n,1}$ is a $1$-factorization of $L_{n,1}$, that is, a set of $n-1$ pairwise edge-disjoint perfect matchings whose union is $E(L_{n,1})$; a perfect partition of $L_{n,1}$ is a partition of the set of all perfect matchings of $L_{n,1}$ into perfect sets....

  2. An improved lower bound for maximal partial Room squares

    Peter Horak, Dongryul Kim Combinatorics

We establish a new asymptotic lower bound for the volume of a maximal partial Room square of even order $n$. We prove that its volume is at least $\frac{2\sqrt{66}-6}{57}n^2-O(n)$, improving the leading coefficient $1/8$ in the lower bound obtained by Meszka and Rosa. The proof combines two counting arguments, one based on a transversal of empty cells and the other on the graph of occurring...

  3. Seeking the dense half in $K_4$-free graphs

Ignacy Buczek, Andrzej Grzesik, Piotr Kuc Combinatorics

We show that every $K_4$-free graph on $n$ vertices has a balanced bipartition such that neither part contains more than $0.0671n^2 + o(n^2)$ edges. This improves the previous best bound of $0.074n^2$ by Xu and Zhang. We also formulate a conjecture that the tight bound for this problem is $\frac{425}{6498}n^2 \approx 0.0654n^2$, and present a construction showing that it would be best possible.

  4. Resolving Tusn\'ady's Problem

    Nicola Wengiel Combinatoricscross-listed from math.CA

We prove a lower bound of $\Omega_d((\log N)^{d-1/2})$ for the worst-case combinatorial discrepancy of $N$-point sets with respect to anchored boxes in every fixed dimension $d\ge3$. Together with Nikolov's upper bound of the same order and Wei's planar lower bound, this settles Tusn\'ady's problem: the discrepancy of axis-parallel boxes is $\Theta_d((\log N)^{d-1/2})$ in every fixed dimension...

  5. Every $r$-regular Hamiltonian graph with $r\geq 17$ contains a second Hamilton cycle

Haiyang Liu, Xu Liu, Bo Ning Combinatorics

A conjecture of Sheehan states that every Hamiltonian $4$-regular graph contains a second Hamilton cycle. A natural problem is to find the smallest positive integer $k$ such that every Hamiltonian $r$-regular graph contains a second Hamilton cycle when $r\geq k$. Thomassen proved that $k\leq 300$. Improving Thomassen's result, Haxell, Seamone, and Verstra{\"e}te proved that $k\leq 23$. We improve...

  6. The Spectral Theory of Cographs: A Survey, Organized by Graph Matrix

Pallabi Manna, Santanu Mandal, Fernando C. Tura Combinatoricscross-listed from math.HO

Cographs, the $P_4$-free graphs, are exactly the graphs obtained from a single vertex by repeated disjoint union and complementation. They contain the threshold graphs, $\mathcal{C}$-graphs and form one of the primary areas for spectral graph theory. This survey is organized by matrix: after a preliminary section, there is one section for each of the adjacency, Laplacian, signless Laplacian,...

  7. Hypergraphs with zero uniform Tur\'an density at intermediate levels

    Heng Li, Xizhi Liu Combinatorics

An $r$-uniform hypergraph $H$ is uniformly dense with respect to $j$-graphs if, up to a small error, at least a prescribed proportion of the $r$-cliques of every $j$-uniform hypergraph on the same vertex set are edges of $H$. For a forbidden hypergraph $F$, its uniform Tur\'an density at level $j$ is the supremum of these density bounds over arbitrarily large $F$-free hypergraphs with the error...

  8. Limits of Generalized Magnitudes of Dissimilarity Spaces

    Hayato Saigo Combinatorics

For a finite symmetric nonnegative dissimilarity matrix $D=(d_{ij})$ with zero diagonal, we study the high-resolution limit ($t\to \infty$) of $\mathbf{1}^T(e^{-td_{ij}})^+\mathbf{1}$. We prove that this limit always exists in the extended real line and is rational whenever finite, without weightability or invertibility assumptions. At fixed cardinality, a finite rational polyhedral fan governs...

  9. A uniform double-factorial construction for consecutive-pattern packings

    Zolt\'an Nagy Combinatorics

For every overlap $m\geq 3$ and every pattern length $K\geq 2m+1$, we construct an explicit permutation $p\in\mathfrak{S}_K$ such that the number of permutations containing $j$ prescribed occurrences of $p$, with successive starts separated by $K-m$, is $(2j-1)!!$ for every $j\geq 1$. Additional occurrences are permitted. We prove that the corresponding occurrence poset is the ordinal sum of a...
